Cole Palmer joked that if Chelsea's new signing Morgan Rodgers continues with that cold celebration, the debt collectors will be calling in.

The two friends, who once played side-by-side at Manchester City, have reunited at Stamford Bridge after Rodgers' £117 million signing, and both love to celebrate with a trembling expression.

24-year-old Palmer registered his signature celebration with the UK Intellectual Property Office last year, but the new Chelsea winger was actually the first of the two to perform the gesture in an official match, a few days before Bruce.

The two exchanged messages throughout the summer. Rodgers told the Chelsea number 10 that he was about to join West London, despite Arsenal's continued interest in signing him.

When asked how he would resolve the conflict over the celebratory gestures, Palmer said, "We've never talked about it!"

"That's one thing. He does his thing, and I do mine. I've registered the copyright, so if he wants to do something, a debt collector will come to his door!"

"Never mind, we can do it together."

Palmer is on summer break, while the record-breaking British signing is with England for the World Cup. This means Rodgers will have to wait until his new teammates finish their pre-season tour in Australia and Asia before joining the team.

Rodgers and Palmer played together in Manchester City's youth academy and the England national team, and the number 10 player has no worries about how the two will cooperate in the future, especially considering their close personal relationship.

He added: "I've been in contact with him, but when I heard Chelsea wanted to sign him, I messaged him even more. He was probably fed up with me, but at least he's here now."
