Former Dutch international Maduro has suggested that Robin van Persie take over as manager of the Oranje, believing that having an experienced coach alongside him would be a good choice.
Maduro does not consider Reiziger a suitable candidate. He said, "I don't know if it will succeed; it's hard to say. If the Dutch Football Association chooses an interim coach, I think it's more likely to be Van Nistelrooy. He is indeed a leader and is already a member of the Dutch national team's coaching staff."
The former Dutch international then brought up a name that almost no one had mentioned before. "I haven't heard of Van Persie either. It wouldn't be difficult to have Advocaat as his key player. Why not? The two have always worked well together, and that's proven it."
“In that situation, Van Persie can work with the best players. His philosophy is also a good fit for the national team. Dutch players will be easier to implement than players from Heerenveen or Feyenoord,” Maduro added when discussing the head coach selection.
Sloth has long been on the Dutch Football Association's shortlist. The former Feyenoord and Liverpool manager is currently focused on club football and therefore will not be taking on the national team coaching position for the time being.
Maduro said, "Right now, he should focus on leading the club. He is still a very important coach and wants to prove himself elsewhere. He is a developmental coach who has to be on the training ground every day, and that is his strength."
The Dutch Football Association hopes to finalize a new head coach as soon as possible. The selection process began at the end of June, after Koeman resigned following the Netherlands' elimination from the World Cup in the round of 16.
